MBARI OASIS3 Mooring Guide

Failmail

OASIS Failmail

Overview

The OASIS data collection software may be configured to automatically send email to a list of recipients whenever the getoasis program returns an exit code greater than zero. The get<mooring> scripts contain code that uses a mailer to send a message to a list defined by an environment variable called "failmail", set within the script. Generally, the message includes the name of the mooring, and a code indicating the nature of the failure. A sample message is shown below:

Download failure of file m1.2001158.09
Return code was 4
0 = Success
1 = Argument error (bad command line arguments)
2 = Couldn't acquire TNC port (hung download or port in use)
3 = Couldn't connect to OASIS (it's not listening)
4 = Download error (something broke after it connected)
5 = Abort error (somebody killed the download)
