MBARI OASIS3 Mooring Guide
Connecting to OASIS3
Connecting To OASIS
Basic Procedure
The coasis script connects you to the Terminal Node Controller (TNC), which
connects you via packet radio to the TNC on the mooring. Only one person at
a time may occupy a radio channel to a mooring.
Logging into a mooring will also exclude the mooring from its regular download,
which occur every hour, on the hour:
Note: Logging in to OASIS will prevent downloads from
operating; Avoid logging in to OASIS at scheduled download times and remember
to quit and disconnect when your session is complete.
Connecting Via Radio
- Connect to the TNC
UNIX: /oasis/bin/coasis <mooring>
Windows: /oasisnt/desktop/oasistnc.ht
- Set the RET parameter to 0; this allows the TNC to continue trying to connect
indefinitely:
cmd: RET 0
- Connect to the mooring TNC (This may take some time, up to ~10 min). Here
are some examples;
Note that 2000M2 uses the repeater mbari-2, but 2001M1 does not:
cmd: c 2000M2 v mbari-2
cmd: c 2001M1
cmd: c MUCLA
- When you are finished, use
quit
at the oasis prompt to disconnect from OASIS, followed by
dis
at the TNC command (cmd:) prompt to disconnect the TNC.
- Finally, use
^AX
to exit pcomm (or use the appropriate command to close
whatever terminal emulator you are using).
This is very important; it ensures that the terminal
emulator does not prevent
the download scripts from acquiring the TNC.
Direct Serial Connection
- Connect terminal device to the OASIS can (connector 1A)config for 9600N81
- Hit the reset switch for short reset (Hold down < 2 sec)
Connection to Instruments
- To connect to particular instrument, use:
con <instrument>
where <instrument> is the name as it appears in the dp command
- To exit a con session and return to the oasis prompt, use
^D CR
