MBARI OASIS3 Mooring Guide
OASIS3 Design Requirements
The Oasis III Mooring controller system shall:
- Nominally replace the functionality of the existing M1/M2 Oasis mooring
controller system.
- Increase the amount of non-volatile storage for system and driver code
by at least a factor of 10 over existing Oasis Controller system.
- Provide a storage medium that behaves as read-only memory when deployed,
insensitive to sudden removal of system power.
- Use existing hardware infrastructure.
- Utilize existing RF infrastructure.
- Be able to upgrade to a 2-3 times higher bandwidth RF infrastructure if
necessary.
- Provide expanded instrument capability greater than 16 instruments.
- Re-use existing code for instrument drivers.
- Have an operational and maintenance life cycle of 3-5 years.
- Not require changes to shore side data system.
- Not have power consumption greater than Oasis.
- Provide a non-invasive configuration mechanism to enable the modification
of system operating parameters and sampling behavior, remotely and in situ.
