OASIS Command Reference

shutcal

Name

shutcal - shutter calibration utility

Synopsis

shutcal [<shutter driver name>]

Description

The shutcal command runs an interactive shutter calibration utility to set and home shutters (usually used to prevent biofouling on optical instruments). The shutter driver name is the name of the shutter driver as returned by the dp command. If the can is configured for only one shutter, the shutter driver name is optional. The status of the shutter is displayed, which updates in real time. The following commands are available:

Command
Function
C
Perform Close Shutter Cycle
O
Perform Open Shutter Cycle
H
Set Shutter Home (closed) Position
4
Rotate Rotate Shutter CCW
5
Stop Shutter
6
Shutter CW
CR
Exit Shutcal

Typically, shutcal is used to move the shutter to its closed position using the 4,5,6 commands, and then setting the home position with the h command. The O and C commands may be used to check the operation of the shutter.

TIP: Shutcal updates the screen very rapidly, and hence is only useful with a direct connection. Over the radio, use shutcom instead.

TIP: The counts value displayed corresponds to a potentiometer value that ranges from 0-4095; the closed position is usually approximately 2000. If this is not the case, the shutter paddle may need to be rotated on its shaft. If the counts value does not change or the shutter does not respond, it is often due to a disconnected cable on the OASIS controller.

Example

Calibrate Shutter0:

shutcal shutter0
