The products in this directory (surveys) are periodically regenerated. 
Below is the history and brief explanation of the reprocessing done for 
the AUVCTD data archive.

Fall 2006

Entire archive worked over with improvements made in the SSDS portal
code to create consistent missionnetcdf files.  reprocess_surveys.m
file manages list of missions to process into surveys.


20 July 2007
 
Entire archive reprocessed with these changes in the science data 
processing software:

  - HS2 calibrations read from the missionlogs/hs2Calibration.dat files 
    instead of from the date stamped files in the process directory

  - Revised HS2 calibration calculation by Brandon Sackmann used
  
  - Removed normalization of raw Fluoresence signal.  Now called
    hs2.fl676_uncorr in the full resolution matlab file.  Also,
    bb470 and bb676 members renamed to hs2.bbp470 & hs2.bbp676.
    
  - Matlab Graphics done without DISPLAY being set resulting in
    more consistent images.
  
  - 2column plots all free range with axis limits set to the 2.5%
    and 97.5% quartiles.

Entire archive reprocessed with these minor changes:

  - Support both wavelength settings for HS2: 470/676 and 420/700
  
  - Correct odv output for easier import to ODV 3.4
  
  - Display 'ctd1' or 'ctd2' over quicklook section plots
  
  - Make depth track over density and Gulper locations grey for
    better viewing over white backgrounds in quicklook section plots

Reprocessed surveys 2007, ['344.00'] to 2009, ['348.05'] for intern Heater 
Fulton-Bennet in order to get more LOPC data into the .mat files.

Reprocessed surveys from 2003 through 2009 for these reasons:

  - A bug in survey2netcdf.m file where time.hs2 was not being written to
    the .nc file.  This was fixed on 2009/04/21, but old missions had not
    been reprocessed, until now.

  - The kml directory did not exist for each of the years.  The kml
    directories now exist and the reprocessing created the kml files
    for each of the surveys.
